Two-Week Block Work Experience

Work experience plays a fundamental part in the career development of young people.  It is a unique opportunity for students to learn about full time employment. By offering a work placement you can contribute to the development of young people in preparation for work.

Extended Work Experience Placements (for at risk and excluded students)

Students attend extended work experience placements in local industry to gain practical experience of work for 1, 2 or 3 days a week. All placements are tailored to meet the vocational and or professional development needs of individual students. Placements are carefully vetted and stringent health and safety checks are undertaken.

Schools and SSQ prepare students for the workplace prior to the placement commencing, and support the student and employer with regular contact/visits for the duration of the placement.

Students participating in the Extended Work Experience Programme experience difficulties engaging in education or employment.  Placements provide them with the opportunity to develop personal and professional qualities, access mentors, and try alternative learning experiences in new and stimulating environments.
