Solent Skill Quest has been awarded the contract to deliver work experience to all schools in the Southampton and South-West Hampshire area through WEX On-Line during 2008-9. Most of the 37 schools in the region have now opted to organise their work experience through us.
During 2007-8 we managed over 3000 students from 18 schools, helping them find suitable work experience for two weeks. Employers kindly offered opportunities for young people to go out into the workplace and experience the world of work for themselves, and put into practice some of the skills they had learnt in school.
Work experience positions have varied enormously, and have included the usual Office Assistant, IT Technician, Mechanic, Sales Assistant and Hairdresser, as well as more unusual placements which have enabled students to shadow Pastors, Youth Workers and MPs.
