Primary School Visit Laverstoke Park

Our Primary Development Manager, Jane Berridge, was delighted to have the opportunity to arrange a day out at a biodynamic farm for KS1 and 2 children from Stanmore Primary School.

.

Through our links with Kings’ School, we were asked to organise an event for their feeder school, Stanmore Primary, whilst Kings helped with transportation.

.

The children visited Laverstoke Park, near Odiham, where they were able to learn about organic farming and where food comes from a very hands-on perspective.  They watched the cows being milked and were able to pet the lambs and goats, as well as see the wider range of animals such as pigs, sheep, poultry, and the more unusual water buffalo, wild boar.  They also got their hands dirty down on the organic farm, where they planted herbs and picked raspberries, and learnt how fresh fruit and vegetables are grown and harvested ready for market.

.

Everyone felt it had been a really good day out, and the children were all able to learn about what happens to their food before it arrives in the supermarket!
